About Joel D.
Joel D. Rosen studied history and law on opposite coasts. He earned a B.A. from Brandeis University, then moved on to the University of Florida College of Law where he received his J.D. Those credentials set the stage for a career split between corporate legal work and nonprofit governance.
Rosen entered corporate legal practice in the late 1980s. He joined Nutrisystem and served as deputy general counsel beginning in 1989. By 1992 he was vice president and general counsel, handling in-house legal matters at a company undergoing rapid growth. The experience gave him a close-up view of corporate operations and the practical demands counsel must meet for business leaders.
In 1998 Rosen opened his own practice as the principal of the Law Offices of Joel D. Rosen. He ran a small firm that provided legal services to businesses and individuals. That period allowed him to shift from the single-client world of in-house counsel to the broader responsibilities of an outside lawyer advising multiple clients.
He moved into the firm world in 2012 when he joined High Swartz LLP as a partner and served as managing partner. In that capacity he balanced casework with administrative and leadership duties. Colleagues describe his role as one that combines client counsel with the steady demands of firm management.
Outside of private practice Rosen has sustained a long record of professional and civic involvement. He has held membership in the Pennsylvania State Bar and the American Bar Association since 1982. He is a member of the Montgomery Bar Association board and holds membership in the Bucks County Bar Association, both since 2016. His civic interests extend into public health. He has served on the board of the Institute for Hepatitis and Virus Research since 2005 and has been chairman of the board of the Hepatitis B Foundation since 2008.
Those nonprofit roles have run alongside his legal work. They reflect an ongoing interest in issues that cross law, policy and public health. He continues to practice at High Swartz LLP, where his work concentrates on corporate legal matters and litigation.
