Jim A Kolosowsky runs a solo practice in Michigan. He represents clients in courtroom proceedings and on appeal. His practice mixes trial work and appellate litigation, and he handles cases that move between both levels of the state system.
Kolosowsky prepared for that path at Grand Valley State University, where he completed a B.S. in Criminal Justice in 1990. He continued his legal studies at Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, completing a J.D. program that included coursework in criminal law and litigation. Those academic choices set the stage for a career spent largely in criminal defense and appellate matters.
Over time Kolosowsky has moved between private practice and roles that connect him to Michigan’s appellate system. He is a member of the Criminal Defense Lawyers of Michigan and is currently associated with the State Appellate Defender’s Office. Those affiliations reflect steady involvement in both trial-level defense and appellate briefing.
He opened The Law Offices of Jim Kolosowsky to centralize his practice. As owner he manages client intake, case strategy and courtroom work. He handles arraignments, motions, plea negotiations and trials, and follows cases through the appellate process when necessary. The office takes criminal cases in Michigan courts and prepares the records and briefs needed for appeals.
Clients come to Kolosowsky for counsel in criminal matters that require an experienced litigant at the courthouse and a careful writer for appellate briefs. He is known among peers for regularly handling the procedural steps that carry a case from trial to appeal. He also consults on motions and procedural post-conviction work when those matters arise.
Outside of casework he remains engaged with fellow defense attorneys through bar-related groups and defender offices. That connection keeps him current on changes in criminal procedure and appellate practice across the state. He now practices criminal defense and appellate work through The Law Offices of Jim Kolosowsky.
