About Jill M.

Jill M. Sauber built her academic foundation outside the law. She earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Minnesota in 2007, studying biology, physiology and mortuary science. She then turned to law and received her Juris Doctor from the University of St. Thomas, Minnesota School of Law in 2013. The combination of biomedical and legal training informs how she approaches cases today.

After law school, Sauber moved into areas of practice that touch frequently on aging, health and financial planning. She joined the Minnesota legal community early, holding membership in the Minnesota State Bar Association since 2012 and taking on responsibilities within the MSBA’s Elder Law Section. Her name has appeared on governing rosters and committee lists, and she has served as the Treasurer of the Elder Law Section since 2017. Those roles put her in regular contact with lawyers, financial professionals and agency representatives around state-level policy and practice questions.

Professional affiliations have been a steady part of her career. She became a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys in 2015 and later took a leadership role in Minnesota NAELA as Co-Chair of the Finance Committee. She was named a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation in 2019. Those memberships reflect a sustained interest in elder law issues and organizational governance rather than one-off involvement.

Colleagues describe Sauber as methodical. She favors clear documents and careful financial planning. Clients meet an attorney who explains options in plain language and who organizes complex material into usable steps. Courtroom litigation is not the only lens she uses; transactional work and planning often occupy much of her time.

Her professional activities include drafting estate plans, advising on incapacity and guardianship matters, and addressing financial questions that arise for older clients and their families. At the state level she has worked on policies and programs through volunteer roles, and she routinely coordinates with accountants, fiduciaries and health-care providers to align legal documents with practical needs.

Sauber practices from Sauber Legal Services LLC. She remains active in Minnesota bar circles and professional organizations and continues to serve on NAELA and MSBA committees while maintaining a private practice that concentrates on elder law, estate planning and related financial matters.
