About Jessica
Jessica Lieck built her academic foundation at Texas State University, where she earned a B.A. in political science and criminal justice. She continued her studies at Texas Tech University School of Law, completing a J.D. with emphasis on criminal law and innocence. Those studies informed the positions she has taken early in her legal career.
She began working in a law office while still in law school, joining Nicholson Law Group as a law clerk in 2021. The clerkship exposed her to case preparation, client interviews, and courtroom procedures. She returned to the same firm as an associate in 2023, handling client representation and participating in pretrial work. In 2024 she moved to Deandra Grant Law as a criminal division associate lawyer, where she took on trial preparation and courtroom assignments.
Lieck holds certification from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in DWI detection and standardized field sobriety testing. That credential complements the criminal defense practice she developed through her early roles. It also supports the technical aspects of DWI defense, including case review and expert consultation.
Her professional memberships span statewide and local organizations. She is a current member of the Texas Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and the Austin Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She also belongs to the DUI Defense Lawyers Association, the Hays County Bar Association, the Williamson County Bar Association, the Lubbock Criminal Defense Lawyers Association, the Texas Independent Bar Association and the Texas Bar College. These affiliations have kept her connected to continuing legal education and peer networks.
Colleagues describe her approach as steady and case-oriented. She handles routine pretrial matters but has also taken on contested hearings and evidentiary challenges. Her training in innocence issues at Texas Tech influences how she examines records and evaluates claims of wrongful conviction or procedural error.
Her courtroom work includes direct client advocacy, motions practice and coordination with expert witnesses. She has experience managing evidentiary timelines and preparing witnesses for testimony. The DWI training and local bar involvement inform her day-to-day work and case strategy.
She is licensed to practice in Texas and works out of Deandra Grant Law. She currently practices criminal defense, concentrating on DWI cases and trial work.
