About Jessica
Jessica Breckenridge came to the law through work that put children and families at the center. She studied at the University of Denver and earned her J.D. in 2021. The classroom was one part of her training. The other was the steady, close work she did in courtrooms and legal clinics while still a student.
Her law school years included several public-interest placements. In 2019 she interned at Denver Juvenile Court and spent time in the Family and Children’s Unit at Colorado Legal Services. Those roles exposed her to the practical rhythms of dependency proceedings and client interviews. In 2020 she took on two more roles that deepened that exposure: a legal internship at the Office of the Child’s Representative and an internship with the Denver City Lawyer’s office.
Those internships gave Breckenridge courtroom and intake experience. She handled factual investigations, assisted with pleadings and observed hearings involving custody and protective-services matters. She also worked directly with clients and agency attorneys, which shaped the way she approaches case preparation and client communication today.
After law school she joined Modern Family Law as an associate in 2021. In that role she moved from intern tasks to client representation and file management. She has been responsible for drafting motions, preparing for hearings and managing case files from opening to resolution. Her time at Modern Family Law built on her earlier public work but in a private practice setting, where the pace and expectations are different.
Breckenridge is licensed to practice in Colorado. Her background blends public-service internships and private-practice responsibilities. That combination informs how she assesses cases and discusses options with clients. She tends to emphasize clear, practical steps in early client meetings and to prepare thoroughly when matters proceed to contested hearings.
She is active in matters that commonly arise in family law practice in Colorado, including custody questions and child-related proceedings, and she draws on her juvenile-court and child-representative experience when those issues appear. She currently practices at Modern Family Law, representing clients in family law and child welfare matters in Colorado.
