About Jesse I.

Jesse I. Smith earned a Bachelor of Science from Indiana University–Purdue University at Indianapolis before completing his Juris Doctor at Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2022. He left law school equipped with courtroom experience from clinical programs and coursework that emphasized both procedure and ethics. That academic background set the stage for his early years in practice.

After law school, Smith began work in private practice. He serves as an associate at Parr Richey Frandsen Patterson Kruse LLP. In that role he works on matters that arise in both state and federal settings. Smith is admitted to practice in Indiana and holds admission to the U.S. District Courts for the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana. He also maintains an active membership in the Indiana State Bar.

Colleagues describe him as methodical and precise in legal writing. He spends much of his time drafting pleadings, responding to discovery, and preparing briefs for court. Courtroom appearances and motion practice are a regular part of his docket in the federal districts where he is admitted. Smith balances written advocacy with client work, handling case intake and counseling clients on procedural steps and timing.

Smith’s practice benefits from his law school training in trial advocacy and professional responsibility. He draws on that training when preparing witnesses and organizing case strategies. He also relies on mentors at his firm for guidance in complex litigation matters. Peer review and supervision shape the way he approaches deadlines and court rules, and he continues to build trial and pretrial experience.

Outside firm responsibilities, Smith remains involved in the Indiana legal community through his state bar membership. He attends continuing legal education programs and participates in firm-led training sessions. That engagement keeps him current on local rules and federal procedure changes that affect his work. He practices at Parr Richey Frandsen Patterson Kruse LLP, handling matters in Indiana state courts and in the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana.
