About Jerry A
Jerry A Tuffentsamer completed undergraduate and law studies in Illinois before launching his practice. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Pre-Law and Paralegal Studies from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and later returned to Southern Illinois University School of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2011. He also attended Judson College earlier in his academic career.
After law school, Tuffentsamer moved into court work and private practice. He served as a law clerk extern in 2010 for the Honorable Justice Bruce Stewart of the Illinois Court of Appeal for the Fifth District. That experience gave him exposure to appellate procedure and judicial decision-making at an early stage.
In 2011 he joined Armstrong & Green as an associate lawyer. He spent the next two years in firm practice before founding his own firm. In 2013 he opened Tuffentsamer Law Office and has been the owner and managing lawyer since that year. Over time he added admissions in federal courts: he is admitted to practice in the Federal District Courts for the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois and to the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.
Tuffentsamer is an active member of professional organizations. He has held memberships in the Illinois State Bar Association and the Peoria County Bar Association since 2013. Those ties reflect ongoing engagement with the regional legal community and continuing professional development.
Colleagues and clients describe Tuffentsamer as a lawyer who combines courtroom experience with the administrative duties of running a small law firm. He handles filings, argues disputes, and oversees case strategy. His appellate clerkship experience informs how he frames legal issues for higher courts.
He maintains a practice that appears in both state and federal forums. His registration before the Central and Southern Districts of Illinois and the Seventh Circuit allows him to carry matters from trial courts to appellate review. His current practice centers on litigation in Illinois state courts, federal district courts in the Central and Southern Districts, and appellate work before the Seventh Circuit.
