About Jennifer

Jennifer Spear earned her J.D. from Atlanta's John Marshall Law School in 2007. She completed her legal training during a period of growth for Georgia's family law practice, and she entered the profession with an interest in cases involving children and families. Her academic background supplied the foundation for work in state courts.

She is admitted to practice in Georgia and holds a certification as a Guardian Ad Litem from the Office of the Child Advocate. That certification authorizes her to act as a court-appointed advocate for children in dependency and custody matters. In that capacity she has prepared court reports, conducted investigations, and appeared on behalf of children's interests in hearings.

Over the years she has handled matters in family court and related forums. Her files have included contested custody disputes, guardianship petitions, and dependency proceedings where a child's welfare is at issue. She has worked with social service agencies, therapists, and court personnel to assemble information the court may consider when making decisions that affect children.

Spear maintains current memberships in professional organizations tied to the legal community. She keeps up with developments in child welfare law and procedural rules that govern juvenile and family courts. Colleagues describe her as deliberate in preparing cases and careful in documenting factual findings that courts rely on.

Her courtroom work combines investigation and advocacy. She prepares written recommendations for judges and can testify about her observations when called to do so. She also assists families in understanding the court process and what a child advocate's role entails. Clients and professionals who have interacted with her say she tries to make complex procedures clearer and to present information the court can use.

In private and public matters she has concentrated on issues that intersect with child welfare. She handles appointments from the court and works on cases that require both factual inquiry and clear written reports. She currently concentrates her practice on family court matters and child welfare work in Georgia.
