About Jennifer L
Jennifer L Mayer earned her law degree from American University Washington College of Law in 2005 after completing undergraduate studies at Boston University in 2000. She entered the legal profession during a period of change in the mid-2000s and moved quickly into roles that combined court experience and private practice.
Early in her career she served as a law clerk to the Honorable Louise G. Scrivener at the Circuit Court for Montgomery County, Maryland. That clerkship in 2008 placed her inside a busy trial court and gave her first-hand exposure to civil and criminal dockets, motion practice, and courtroom procedure. The year prior to and following that experience saw her shift into private practice. In 2009 she worked as an associate at Houlon, Berman, Bergman, Finci, Levenstein & Skok, where she handled research, drafting, and client-facing responsibilities typical of junior associates.
Her educational background and early roles reflect a blend of academic training and practical courtroom work. The clerkship sharpened her understanding of how judges approach evidentiary issues and case management. Time in a law firm introduced the demands of managing client expectations and producing work under tight deadlines. Those complementary experiences helped shape the way she approaches problems and prepares cases.
Mayer is admitted to practice in Maryland and the District of Columbia. That dual admission allows her to operate in both state and local courts in the region. Her career path shows participation in both the public and private sides of the legal system, a balance that can inform her handling of litigation strategy and transactional matters alike.
Colleagues and clients who have worked with her describe a practitioner who values careful preparation and clear communication. She has moved between roles that require discrete analytical tasks and those that demand broader case management. That range of work suggests an ability to adapt to different legal settings and to manage both research-heavy assignments and courtroom responsibilities.
She currently practices law in Maryland and the District of Columbia.
