About Jennifer B.
Jennifer B. Cona built her legal foundation at Hobart and William Smith Colleges, where she earned a B.A. in political science in 1991. She continued her studies at the University of Connecticut School of Law, receiving her J.D. in 1996. Her academic path led directly into practice in the Northeast, and her training remains a touchstone for the work she does today.
She launched her own practice two years after graduating law school. In 1998 she founded Cona Elder Law PLLC and has served as its managing partner since then. Running a firm requires handling both case work and the practical demands of office management. Cona has overseen the firm’s growth and the development of its practice areas over the past decades.
Cona is admitted to practice in New Jersey and New York. She also holds a State certification in New York as a Court Evaluator and as Counsel to Guardians and Incapacitated Persons. That certification ties her practice directly into guardianship proceedings and court evaluations, tasks that often involve close coordination with families, courts, and care providers. Her role in those matters is part legal counsel and part assessment for the court.
Her professional affiliations reflect a steady engagement with elder law circles. She is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and of the New York State Bar Association. She also belongs to the Nassau County and Suffolk County bar associations. On a more specific front, she founded and chairs the Advanced Elder Law Focus Group, which brings together practitioners working on complex issues affecting older adults. Those memberships provide regular contact with peers and ongoing legal developments in her field.
Cona Elder Law PLLC maintains multiple office locations under her leadership. The firm handles matters that arise at the intersection of aging, incapacity, and the legal system. Cona continues to represent clients in both New York and New Jersey and serves as a court evaluator and counsel to guardians in New York, focusing her practice on elder law and related court-appointed roles.
