About Jeffrey
Jeffrey Stavroff came to law from Midwestern classrooms and municipal hallways. He earned his Juris Doctor from Capital University in 2011 after serving on the Capital University Law Review editorial board in 2010 and 2011. The early scholarly work gave him a grounding in legal research and writing that would show up again in court records and filings.
His professional career began in city government. In 2011 he joined the Columbus City Lawyer’s Office as an Assistant City Lawyer. That role put him on the front lines of public-sector legal work, handling prosecutions, municipal matters and the steady churn of courtroom appearances that shape a lawyer’s practical skills. He left the city office after several years to move into private practice.
By 2015 Stavroff was working as an associate in a private criminal defense practice. He handled trials and pretrial motions, and he worked cases that ranged from routine misdemeanors to more serious felony charges. The move to private defense shifted his daily work from government advocacy to representing individuals facing criminal allegations.
In 2016 he opened The Stavroff Law Office and began practicing as a criminal defense lawyer. The firm is listed under that name. Over time his caseload has included impaired driving matters and a steady stream of criminal defense work. He holds certifications tied to traffic- and intoxication-related enforcement: Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s DWI Detection and Standardized Field Sobriety Tests course. Those trainings inform how he evaluates and challenges roadside procedures and evidence.
Stavroff is a member of several professional organizations. He has been affiliated with the American Institute of DUI/DWI Lawyers since 2015. He is also active in the Columbus Bar Association Lawyers For Justice program, a membership that dates back to 2011. Those affiliations reflect continued engagement with peers and ongoing work in impaired driving defense and related areas of criminal law.
He is licensed to practice in Ohio and holds admissions to federal courts including the 6th Circuit and the Federal Circuit. That combination of state and federal admissions means he can handle appeals and federal filings when a case requires it. He remains based in his private practice, where he manages criminal defense matters and impaired driving cases at The Stavroff Law Office.
He currently practices at The Stavroff Law Office, handling criminal defense matters and impaired driving cases.
