About Jeffrey
Jeffrey Schatzman earned his law degree from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in 1989 after completing a bachelor’s degree in political science at the University of Florida in 1986. He moved from an academic study of government into practice at a time when the legal landscape in Florida was changing fast. Those formative years shaped the procedural and commercial work that would occupy his career.
He is admitted to practice in Florida and before several federal courts, including the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida in both the federal and bankruptcy courts. His credentials also list admission to the U.S. Supreme Court. Those court admissions have allowed him to appear in a mix of bankruptcy and federal matters over decades of practice.
In 1996 he took on the role of managing shareholder at Schatzman & Schatzman, P.A., a position he still holds. He has steered firm operations and case strategy while supervising litigation and bankruptcy proceedings handled under the firm’s name. That managerial role put him in charge of both client-facing work and the administrative demands of running a small firm through multiple economic cycles.
Professional associations have been a steady part of his career. He has been a member of the Commercial Law League of America since 1991 and served as its president from 2013 to 2014. He also holds membership in the American Bankruptcy Institute. Those connections have kept him involved with national conversations about commercial law and insolvency practice, and they reflect long-term engagement in professional circles rather than transient participation.
Over the years his practice has centered on bankruptcy and commercial law, including matters in the federal bankruptcy courts. He handles the kinds of filings and contested matters that arise in reorganization and asset disposition cases, and he represents parties in related commercial disputes. Colleagues and opposing counsel know him for a steady presence in court and for maintaining continuity of representation across long files. He continues to practice as managing shareholder at Schatzman & Schatzman, P.A., handling bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters in federal and state courts.
