About Jeffrey L.
Jeffrey L. Cox graduated from Furman University in 1995 with a B.A. in political science and earned his J.D. from Shepard Broad Law Center at Nova Southeastern University in 1999. He entered the legal profession at the end of the 1990s after completing law school. His academic background set a pattern: attention to procedure, an interest in federal practice, and an early turn toward regulatory work.
He began his federal career as senior counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in 1999. At the SEC he handled matters that involved regulatory review and investigative work. Those years exposed him to complex disclosure and enforcement issues and to large, document-intensive proceedings.
In 2004 he moved to the U.S. Attorney’s Office as an assistant United States lawyer. There he worked on federal prosecutions and related litigation. That experience rounded out his courtroom skills and familiarity with federal procedure. Three years later he entered private practice and in 2007 became a partner at Sallah Astarita & Cox, LLC. His time in private practice built on his regulatory and prosecutorial background.
Cox is admitted to practice in Florida and in several federal forums, including the U.S. Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. He maintains membership in the Florida Bar Association and in the Association of Securities and Exchange Commission Alumni, links that reflect both his state licensing and his years at the SEC. Colleagues describe him as someone who combines federal courtroom experience with an understanding of regulatory dynamics.
In the Sallah Astarita & Cox, LLC office he handles litigation and regulatory matters that draw on his SEC and U.S. Attorney office background. His work often involves federal court filings, enforcement responses, and contested litigation. He continues to practice in state and federal courts and on appellate matters in the Eleventh Circuit. He currently practices at Sallah Astarita & Cox, LLC, where his practice focuses on litigation and regulatory matters in federal and state forums.
