About Jeffrey Francis

Jeffrey Francis LaFave is a licensed attorney admitted to practice law in the State of California. He was admitted to the California State Bar in 1991. His license is currently in active status. Mr. LaFave is the founder and principal attorney at LaFave Law, a law firm located in San Diego, California. He has been practicing law for over 30 years, serving clients throughout Southern California, particularly in San Diego County.

Mr. LaFave earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego School of Law in 1990. Prior to law school, he completed his undergraduate education at the University of Redlands, graduating magna cum laude in 1987. During his time at USD, he was a member of the Appellate Moot Court Board and participated in various moot court and trial advocacy competitions.

Mr. LaFave specializes in environmental law, focusing on cases involving toxic mold exposure, chemical exposure, and other environmental injuries. He represents individuals and families who have suffered health issues due to poor indoor air quality, water damage, and exposure to hazardous substances. His practice encompasses all stages of litigation, including initial case evaluation, discovery, mediation, settlement negotiations, and trial proceedings in both state and federal courts.

Throughout his career, Mr. LaFave has handled cases in the Superior Court of California for the County of San Diego, the United States District Court for the Southern District of California, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California, and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. He has also appeared before California Appellate Courts and Federal Bankruptcy Court. Prior to founding his own firm, he worked as an associate at the San Diego law firm Thorsnes, Bartolotta, McGuire & Padilla from 1991 through 1999.

Mr. LaFave is an active member of the Consumer Attorneys of California, the San Diego County Bar Association, the California State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, American Inns of Court, and Consumer Attorneys of San Diego. He has authored numerous publications and given lectures on environmental injury and toxic mold litigation. Mr. LaFave is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing him to serve the diverse communities of San Diego County effectively.
