About Jeffery
Jeffery Gordon earned his J.D. from Tulane University Law School. He moved from classroom to courthouse early in his career. His education at Tulane provided a foundation in appellate procedure and legal writing that shows in his later roles.
He began his legal work as a law clerk at the First District Court of Appeals. That position placed him in the middle of appellate decision-making. He reviewed records, researched legal questions and assisted judges in preparing opinions. The clerkship exposed him to the mechanics of appellate courts and the pace of appellate litigation.
After the clerkship he served as a Special Assistant Public Defender in the Appellate Division of Dade County, Florida. In that role he worked on appeals for indigent clients, preparing briefs and participating in appellate strategy. He handled complex procedural issues and worked under tight deadlines common in appellate dockets.
Those early positions steered his career toward appellate work. He developed skills in legal research, brief writing and appellate procedure. He also gained experience explaining intricate legal points in writing, and in preparing arguments that judges could use to resolve difficult issues.
Today he practices at Maney & Gordon. At the firm he continues to perform appellate advocacy and related litigation tasks. His background in both a court clerk’s office and a public defender’s appellate unit informs how he approaches appeals and post-trial pleadings. He brings an understanding of both judicial perspective and client-side advocacy to his cases.
He is admitted to practice in Florida and maintains an active appellate practice. He represents clients in appeals and handles the drafting and review of appellate briefs, preservation issues and procedural matters in state appellate courts.
