About Jeff
Jeff Thomas began his legal path at the University of Florida, where he completed his undergraduate studies in 1993. He moved on to Stetson University College of Law and earned his J.D. in 1997. Those years set the shape of a career that started in public service and moved into private practice.
Fresh out of law school, Thomas took a post as a felony prosecutor in the 13th Judicial Circuit in Hillsborough County. He handled serious criminal matters early on, gaining courtroom time and experience in trial procedure. The prosecutor’s office was his first full-time legal employer and it gave him a steady stream of contested cases.
In 2001 he became a partner at Thomas & Paulk, P.A. The shift to private practice brought new responsibilities. He moved from a government role to handling cases on behalf of clients, managing matters that required both strategy and courtroom presence. Becoming a partner also meant supervising other lawyers and participating in the business side of a law firm.
Thomas has maintained his bar memberships since the start of his career. He joined the Florida Bar in 1997 and remains an active member. He also holds membership in the Federal Bar, which he obtained in 2007 and retains currently. Those memberships reflect his licensure to practice in Florida state courts and his standing to appear in federal court.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who came up through the ranks of trial work. His early years as a prosecutor informed his approach to contested matters. Over time he accumulated experience in courtroom advocacy and case preparation, skills that translated into his private practice role.
Outside the courtroom Thomas has taken on the routine but essential tasks of firm leadership. Partner status has required attention to client relations, case management, and mentoring junior attorneys. He has followed a steady course: trial experience first, firm leadership later.
He currently practices at Thomas & Paulk, P.A., where he handles litigation and represents clients in Florida courts.
