About Jayla Jay
Jayla Jay Wilkerson graduated from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 2014. She left an Ivy League classroom prepared for public service. The credential set the stage for work in county and city government and later in the federal system.
Her first public role after law school was as an assistant district attorney in Dallas County in 2015. There she handled prosecutorial duties and learned courtroom procedure the hard way. The job put her in front of judges, juries and a stream of criminal matters that required quick thinking and careful lawyering.
By 2020 she had shifted toward municipal and federal roles. That year she served as an environmental enforcement lawyer in the Dallas City Lawyer’s Office. She worked on enforcement matters the city pursued and participated in regulatory responses that municipal governments routinely face. Also in 2020 she was a lawyer advisor at the U.S. Small Business Administration. In that position she advised on legal questions tied to the agency’s lending programs and the rules that apply to federally backed relief and assistance.
In 2021 she opened her own firm, Law Office of Jayla Wilkerson, PLLC. The move marked a return to private practice after years in public service. Running a solo practice meant handling a wide array of tasks. She took on client intake, case strategy and the administrative work that keeps a law office running.
Wilkerson’s background spans prosecution, municipal enforcement and federal advising. That mix gives her an understanding of how government decisions are made and how enforcement actions are pursued. She is comfortable in court and in the regulatory setting. Her work has required drafting briefs, negotiating resolutions and advising clients on compliance risks tied to government programs and local enforcement.
Today she practices from the Law Office of Jayla Wilkerson, PLLC in Texas. Her work brings together experience from the county prosecutor’s office, a city legal department and a federal agency. She focuses on matters that involve government enforcement and regulatory compliance and represents clients in related civil matters.
