About Jason R

Jason R. Carnell built a steady path into the law after an early career in the military and private industry. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Central Florida in 2000, followed by a Master of Science in international relations from Troy University’s Dothan campus in 2006. He completed his legal studies at Georgia State University College of Law, receiving his J.D. in 2009.

His work life began outside the courthouse. In the early 2000s he served in the United States Air Force, holding roles that included section commander, manpower officer and officer in charge of aircrew training. He later worked as a builder for David Weekley Homes in 2005. Those experiences preceded his entry into legal practice and gave him organizational and leadership experience he would carry into his law career.

Carnell moved into law practice in the decade after law school. He took an associate position at David West & Associates in 2010 and joined Applebaum & Associates as an associate lawyer in 2012. In 2014 he opened The Carnell Law Office, LLC, where he has practiced since. He is admitted to the State of Georgia and is also admitted to practice before the Eleventh Circuit.

Professional memberships have been a steady part of Carnell’s profile. Since 2010 he has held membership in the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He was also a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers from 2010 until 2013. Those affiliations reflect an ongoing connection to trial practice and criminal defense circles in the state.

In his courtroom work, Carnell handles matters common to criminal defense and trial litigation. He appears in state courts and in federal proceedings where needed. His background — military service and private-sector project work combined with years in associate and solo practice — gives him a range of practical perspectives on case management, client preparation and courtroom procedure.

Colleagues describe him as methodical and pragmatic in handling cases. He balances trial preparation with attention to procedural details, and he has maintained active involvement in the Georgia legal community through association memberships. His law office handles litigation and defense work in Georgia and in federal matters before the Eleventh Circuit.

He practices at The Carnell Law Office, LLC. His current work centers on criminal defense and trial litigation.
