About James Moir

James Moir Grant moved from technical training into the courtroom. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2008, then turned to law at the Thomas Goode Jones School of Law at Faulkner University, receiving his J.D. in 2011. Those two degrees anchor the way he approaches cases—methodical, detail-oriented and practical.

After law school Mr. Grant was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia in 2011. He has maintained his membership in the bar since that year. Early post-bar years are often a mix of clerkships and associate work; for him they were the years he learned how engineering analysis and legal argument can intersect in a courtroom setting.

He began his professional life as an engineer and carried that analytical training into his legal career. The engineering background shows up in how he prepares evidence and questions experts. He tends to break complex facts into clearer parts and prefers to test assumptions through careful discovery. That approach shapes the way he frames disputes for judges and juries.

Mr. Grant practices with Kirchen & Grant, LLC as part of a team described in firm materials as Georgia Trial Lawyers. His work has centered on trial practice in Georgia courts. He handles case development, prepares witnesses, and takes matters to trial when necessary. Colleagues say he is thorough in pretrial preparation and disciplined at trial. He also spends time drafting pleadings and managing the client and expert work that support courtroom strategy.

Outside case work he remains connected to the profession through the State Bar of Georgia. He is listed as a member of the bar from 2011 to the present. That membership places him in the professional networks that supply continuing legal education and procedural updates relevant to trial practice.

Courtroom work can be a team effort. In his practice he coordinates with investigators, medical and engineering experts, and co-counsel to build a record that a judge or jury can follow. He favors clear themes over legal theory alone, aiming to make technical points accessible to non‑experts.

He works and litigates in Georgia state courts and in matters tied to the state’s civil procedures. He handles trial litigation in Georgia courts.
