About Jason
Jason Pierson studied criminal justice before turning to the law. He earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix in 2011 and completed his J.D. at the University of Oregon School of Law in 2015. Those years framed an early interest in public interest work and legal research that has shaped his professional path.
After law school, Pierson remained active in the Oregon legal community. He holds memberships in the Multnomah and Clackamas County Bar Associations and participates in the National Lawyers Guild National Steering Committee. At the University of Oregon School of Law he has taken on a string of roles: founding member of First-in-Law: Oregon, treasurer of the Oregon Law Students Public Interest Fund, co-chairman of the Pro Bono Executive Board and a member of the Career Center Advisory Board. Those roles reflect steady involvement in legal education and student-focused programming.
Pierson has also pursued research projects tied to local government and courts. He served as a lead research assistant for the Lane County Bar Association and worked as a research assistant for the City of Eugene Equity and Human Rights Center. That combination of on-the-ground research and organizational service has given him regular exposure to policy discussions and community-facing legal issues.
Colleagues describe Pierson as engaged in the civic side of law. He has continued to balance bar association work with legal practice in Oregon. His memberships and board service have kept him connected to county-level issues across Multnomah, Clackamas and Lane counties, and to networks that emphasize public interest and equity.
His academic background in criminal justice and subsequent legal training inform the types of matters he pursues. Pierson has made pro bono service a consistent part of his résumé, including leadership on law school pro bono initiatives. He also remains involved in the mentoring and career development of newer lawyers through advisory roles at his alma mater.
Quiet but persistent, Pierson’s career has been one of steady institutional engagement rather than headline litigation. He practices law in Oregon, where his work concentrates on public interest, civil rights and criminal defense matters.
