About Jason
Jason Ostendorf earned his J.D. from the University of Baltimore in 2002 after completing a B.A. at York College of Pennsylvania in 1998. He followed the standard path from law school into private practice and has maintained a steady presence in Maryland’s legal community since graduating.
He is admitted to practice in Maryland and holds admissions at the federal appellate level, including the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. In 2007 he opened the Law Office of Jason Ostendorf LLC and continues to operate the firm as its owner. That move established a small, independent practice that has handled matters across trial and appellate courts.
Over the years Ostendorf’s work has involved appearances in both state and federal forums. His admissions to the Fourth Circuit and to the U.S. Supreme Court reflect a practice that extends beyond routine trial litigation into appellate procedure and filings. He has handled cases that required federal jurisdictional work and has prepared briefs and arguments suitable for higher court review.
At his firm, Ostendorf manages client matters from initial intake through post-trial or appellate stages. He has responsibility for case strategy, motion practice, and courtroom presentations. The office operates as a compact practice, which allows him to stay directly involved in each file and in courtroom advocacy when matters proceed to hearing or appeal.
Colleagues and opposing counsel describe him as methodical in preparation and straightforward in court. He tends to favor clear written submissions and focused oral argument. Those habits suit work that crosses from trial courts into appellate review, where concise records and precise legal argument carry weight.
Outside of court appearances, Ostendorf handles the procedural and administrative tasks required of a small firm owner: client counseling, docket management, and coordination of filings in multiple jurisdictions. He maintains the firm’s practice in Maryland while accepting matters that involve federal appellate work up to the Fourth Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
He currently represents clients in matters before Maryland state courts and in federal matters, including appellate proceedings in the Fourth Circuit and filings in the Supreme Court of the United States.
