About Jason Michael

Jason Michael Kunowski began his legal path in the Midwest. He earned a bachelor’s degree in political science and legal studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 2005. He then attended Northern Illinois University College of Law, where he received his J.D. in 2009. His academic background combined classroom study of law with an attention to the practical issues that surface in criminal cases.

After law school, Kunowski built his practice in Illinois. He has been active in local and state bar circles since the late 2000s. He holds membership in the Illinois State Bar Association and the State Bar of Illinois, and he joined the DuPage County Bar Association and Kane County Bar Association in the years that followed. Those memberships placed him in contact with trial lawyers, prosecutors and defense counsel across several county jurisdictions.

In 2016 he moved into a senior attorney role. He served as a Senior Associate at Ramsell and Associates, LLC beginning in 2016. That position expanded his responsibilities in court preparation and trial work. His profile at the firm lists Ramsell and Associates as his office affiliation.

Beyond firm work, Kunowski has pursued training related to impaired driving cases. He completed the Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Practitioner Student Course through Platt & Associates. He has also been a member of the National College of DUI Defense since 2016, which signals continuing engagement with issues specific to DUI defense practice.

Kunowski maintains memberships in several criminal defense organizations. He is a member of the Illinois Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the DuPage County and Kane County Criminal Defense Lawyers Associations, and he has participated in the Kane County Bar Association Criminal Law and Practice Committee since 2017. Those roles have kept him plugged into developments in criminal law, local practice rules and trial procedure across counties in the Chicago suburbs.

His work centers on criminal defense in Illinois courts, including matters that involve impaired driving where field sobriety testing and related evidence are often central. He combines courtroom experience with specialized training in DUI procedures. He currently practices in Illinois and focuses his work on criminal defense and DUI-related cases.
