About Jason Kenneth

Jason Kenneth Baril built his academic foundation in the social sciences before turning to the law. He earned a B.S. in Criminology from Florida State University’s Panama City campus in 2001. He then attended Oklahoma City University School of Law and received his J.D. in 2004. Those years of study combined theory and practice in ways that continue to shape how he approaches cases.

Baril moved into private practice shortly after law school. In 2005 he became a partner at Ogle, Elrod, and Baril. That early partnership position put him in a role that blended client work with firm management. It also set a steady rhythm: a mix of courtroom preparation, negotiation and supervising younger attorneys.

In 2019 he joined Betz and Baril as a partner. The move marked a new chapter in his professional life. At Betz and Baril he carried forward the responsibilities of a partner while helping to guide case strategy and firm operations. Colleagues describe his presence in the office as matter-of-fact; he tends to let results speak for themselves.

Since 2014 Baril has held memberships in both NOSCCR and NADR. Those affiliations have kept him connected to a network of peers and continuing education opportunities. He participates in the professional conversations that shape practice standards and procedural developments in the broader legal community.

Baril’s academic background in criminology informs his work. It gives him a framework for understanding investigative issues and the interplay between facts and legal theory. He applies that perspective to client counseling, evidence review and litigation planning. His practice involves a steady attention to detail and an emphasis on clear communication with clients and opposing counsel alike.

He is admitted to practice in Tennessee and has focused his career in that jurisdiction. At the office level he balances casework with mentoring associates and contributing to firm administration. He maintains a hands-on approach to case preparation and courtroom presentation. He currently practices at Betz and Baril, concentrating his practice in Tennessee.
