About Jason A.

Jason A. Marquez built an unusual academic foundation for a lawyer. He studied physics and economics as an undergraduate, earned an MBA focused on change management, and completed law school in the late 2000s. Those pieces shaped a methodical approach to practice. They also informed how he organizes a law office and evaluates disputes.

He began at Westmont College, where he completed a B.A. in Physics and Economics & Business in 1992. He returned to Denver for graduate study, earning an MBA in Change Management from the University of Colorado - Denver in 2003. He then entered the University of Denver College of Law and received his J.D. in 2008. The sequence—science to business to law—has made him comfortable with technical details and financial questions that often appear in family and criminal matters.

Marquez moved into practice in Colorado and took on a senior role early. In 2009 he served as Senior Partner at Modern Family Law. That position placed him in the mix of contested divorces, custody disputes and settlement negotiations. He developed courtroom experience and a steady case-management routine. In 2018 he became Managing Partner at Marquez Law. In that role he oversees case work and administrative operations. He handles staffing, client intake and the business side of the office, while maintaining an active docket.

Outside the office he is involved in professional organizations. He holds membership in the Colorado Criminal Defense Bar and the Colorado Bar Association. Since 2017 he has served as President of Law School...Yes We Can, a role he continues to hold. Those affiliations keep him connected to peers and to local developments in criminal and family law practice.

Colleagues describe him as pragmatic. He approaches cases by breaking them into factual and legal components. He evaluates settlement options early and prepares for trial when needed. His background in economics and change management informs how he frames financial issues and negotiation strategy. He is comfortable handling evidentiary questions and procedural matters that arise in both courtroom and settlement settings.

He practices in Colorado and runs his office from Marquez Law. His work includes family law and criminal defense matters in state courts. He currently focuses his practice on family law and criminal defense in Colorado.
