About Jane

Jane Kim built a legal career that moves between health care, compliance and real estate. She combined technical legal training with a background in design, and that combination has shaped the way she approaches regulatory and transactional work.

Her formal legal education began at the University of Illinois–Chicago, where she earned a J.D. in 2005. She studied European Union law at Oxford University’s St John’s College in 2002, a program taught using the traditional tutorial method. Years later she returned to the classroom for an LL.M. in Health Law and Compliance from Loyola University Chicago School of Law, awarded in 2016. Before law school she completed a B.A. in Interior Architecture at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 1996.

Kim has maintained licenses across multiple jurisdictions. She is admitted to practice in Florida and Illinois, and she holds admission in the Seventh and Eleventh Circuits as well as before the U.S. Tax Court. She also holds real estate credentials: a Florida real estate broker license issued by the Florida Department of Professional Regulation and an Illinois real estate managing broker license from the Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulation. Her compliance credentials include a Certificate in Healthcare Compliance from the Health Care Compliance Association.

Her career has alternated between private practice and institutional roles. She became a law partner at KYZ Law PC in 2008, where she handled regulatory, transactional and litigation matters. In 2017 she served as Acting Director at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, a role that placed her inside a large health-care organization and exposed her to operational and governance challenges in a clinical setting.

That mix of firm-side work and in-house leadership informs how she advises clients. She has worked on health-law regulatory questions, development and review of compliance programs, and the legal issues that arise in health-care operations. On the transactional side her real estate licenses allow her to assist clients in property matters that intersect with health-care projects and business planning. Admission to the U.S. Tax Court also permits her to address certain federal tax proceedings when they arise.

Colleagues describe her approach as methodical. She often bridges regulatory detail and transactional needs, and she applies procedural care when representing organizations. She currently focuses her practice on health law, health-care compliance, real estate transactions and related regulatory matters.
