About Jane E.
Jane E. Vasaturo began her academic life in the laboratory. She earned a B.A. in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Wesleyan University in 2002, after beginning her undergraduate studies in 1998. She then shifted toward law, completing a J.D. at the University of Connecticut School of Law in 2005.
Her early legal training mixed court experience and law firm work. While in law school she served as a research assistant and worked as a summer associate at Tyler Cooper & Alcorn, LLP in 2003. She spent a judicial externship year in 2004 at the United States District Court for the District of Connecticut. After graduation she took a judicial clerkship in 2005 at the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Court, an experience that exposed her to tribal law and court procedures.
Vasaturo moved into private practice soon after her clerkship. In 2007 she joined Chipman, Mazzucco, Land & Pennarola, LLC as an associate. Two years later she became an associate at Mix & Goldman, LLC. Those roles gave her work across different matters and settings, and they placed her squarely in the day-to-day practice of a small- to mid-sized law firm.
Outside the office she has engaged in local government matters. She served as an alternate member of the Town of Colebrook Planning and Zoning Commission beginning in 2017. That role put her in contact with municipal officials and land use decision-making, and it has informed how she approaches disputes that touch on planning, zoning, and local regulation.
Her background crosses several court systems. The federal externship and subsequent clerkship provided courtroom exposure at both the federal and tribal levels. Her associate work involved advising clients and litigating where necessary. The combination of judicial experience and practice in law firms has made her comfortable dealing with procedural and substantive legal questions alike.
Vasaturo is admitted to practice in New York and Connecticut. She continues to work in both jurisdictions, drawing on her courtroom experience and local government service when handling client matters. She maintains an active practice in New York and Connecticut, concentrating on municipal planning and land use issues, as well as civil litigation.
