About Jan F
Jan F Hoen trained as a student of criminal justice and law. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Roanoke College in 1986 and completed his J.D. at the University of Richmond School of Law in 1989. Those years shaped his interest in courtroom work and the practical side of civil claims.
Early in his career Hoen established himself in Virginia’s legal community. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and before the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia. He has combined courtroom work and client counseling, representing individuals through all stages of a claim.
Hoen is the owner of Hampton Injury Law PLC. He started the firm to handle injury cases and to provide local representation for people pursuing damages. As owner, he manages both the legal work and the practical operations of a small plaintiff-side practice. His work includes case investigation, drafting pleadings, taking and defending depositions, and appearing in court when litigation requires it.
Outside the office he maintains membership in several professional organizations. He holds memberships in the American Association for Justice, the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association, the Virginia State Bar Association, and the Hampton Bar Association. These groups offer continuing legal education and forums for trial lawyers to discuss litigation strategies and changes in the law. Hoen’s participation in those associations keeps him engaged with his peers and current on developments that affect civil litigation.
Colleagues describe his approach as straightforward and practical. He evaluates claims with an eye toward what a jury or an insurer will view as central to a case. That practical orientation guides which matters proceed to trial and which are resolved through negotiation. He has handled a range of injury matters during his years in practice, applying courtroom procedures and evidence rules to pursue recovery for clients.
Today he manages client matters from his office at Hampton Injury Law PLC. He continues to represent people in personal injury cases and handles litigation at both the state and federal levels as required by the matter before the court. He currently concentrates his practice on personal injury matters at Hampton Injury Law PLC.
