About James
James Rudolph earned a B.A. in Accounting and Finance from the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1981 and a J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 1984. He combined those two tracks early in his career, moving from financial study to legal training, and has since built a practice that sits at the intersection of law, policy and transactional detail.
He has practiced in California for many years. In 1993 he became a partner at the Law Offices of Rudolph Baker & Associates, where he has handled a range of matters for individual and institutional clients. That long tenure has given him sustained exposure to state and federal processes, and to the administrative contours that often shape immigration cases.
Rudolph’s professional affiliations reflect an interest in immigration policy as well as case work. He has been a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association since 2005. Beginning in 2009 he accepted a role as a U.S. lobbyist for immigration rights with the Federal Mexican Congress Commission on Immigration, a capacity he continues to hold. Those positions involve policy discussion, representation before governmental bodies and coordination with other practitioners.
His undergraduate training in accounting and finance informs how he approaches complex matters that require attention to records, compliance and economic detail. He applies that background when matters involve employer sponsorship, regulatory documentation or financial disclosures. His legal education completed the technical foundation, and he has relied on both skill sets in contested and administrative settings.
At the Law Offices of Rudolph Baker & Associates he has served as a partner for three decades. He assists clients on immigration-related questions and works with organizations that require policy-level advocacy. He also handles cases that call for interaction with federal agencies and legislative stakeholders. Colleagues and clients have repeatedly turned to him for matters that bridge legal representation and advocacy.
Rudolph balances case-level work with his involvement in professional associations and lobbying activities. He continues to maintain an active practice in California, representing individuals and entities on immigration matters and engaging in advocacy tied to legislative and administrative immigration issues. He currently practices immigration law and related matters in California.
