About James Patrick Galvin
James Patrick Galvin Jr. trained first as a finance student before turning to law. He earned a B.B.A. in finance from Georgia State University in 2004 and later completed a J.D. at the University of Miami School of Law in 2014. Those academic stops shaped an early interest in securities and investor protection.
After law school, Galvin moved into securities work. During his time in Miami he served as a certified legal intern at the University of Miami Investor Rights Clinic and later returned as a fellow. He also worked as a certified legal intern for the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and spent a summer as an honors student legal intern at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. Those clinic and government placements put him at the intersection of public enforcement and client-side advocacy.
Galvin’s early post-graduate years included roles at a national securities law office where he was a law clerk and then an associate in 2014. In 2016 he founded Galvin Legal, PLLC. The firm has been his professional base since then. He has maintained active practice credentials in both Georgia and Florida, and he is admitted to appear before the Eleventh Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Memberships and professional affiliations have followed his legal interests. He has belonged to the Golden Key International Honour Society since 2005. He was a member of the Public Investors Arbitration Bar Association from 2015 through 2019 and held membership in the American Bar Association from 2011 through 2019. Those associations align with his work on securities and investor matters.
Galvin’s background combines clinic work, government internships and private practice in securities law. He has handled matters that involve arbitration and regulatory issues, drawing on both his finance undergraduate training and his securities-focused legal resume. His path has been steady: academic preparation, practical clinic and government experience, then private practice and firm leadership.
Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who moves deliberately through complex regulatory and arbitration frameworks. He presents facts and arguments plainly. He also draws on courtroom and regulatory procedural knowledge when preparing matters for arbitration or litigation.
He currently represents individual and institutional investors in securities arbitration and related civil litigation, practicing through Galvin Legal, PLLC.
