About James
James Parrish trained at the University of Virginia School of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor. He arrived at law school after undergraduate study and completed the rigorous curriculum common to UVA, leaving with the degree that qualifies him to practice law.
After law school, Parrish entered private practice. He built experience advising clients and handling a range of legal matters. Over time he moved from associate roles into a solo practice model, and today he operates under the name Parrish Law Office, PLLC.
Parrish’s work spans transactional and dispute work. He represents individuals and small organizations on routine and complex issues. He handles negotiations, drafts agreements and filings, and appears in court when litigation is necessary. He also spends time counseling clients on the practical effects of legal choices so they can weigh risk and benefit before acting.
Colleagues describe Parrish as deliberate and exacting in his preparation. He does not rely on broad generalities. Instead he focuses on the specifics of each matter: statutes, regulatory guidance, precedent, and the factual record. That approach shapes how he evaluates cases and how he advises clients about likely outcomes.
Parrish has structured his practice to be accessible to the people who bring him matters. His office serves as the principal base where clients meet, documents are prepared, and legal strategy is discussed. Clients can expect direct communication about case status and next steps rather than layers of staff handling routine updates.
Outside of client work, Parrish follows developments in the law that affect his practice areas. He reviews new judicial opinions and legislative changes that alter rights and obligations. Staying current helps him identify when a change in the law might offer a new avenue for relief or require a change in a client’s planning.
He currently practices at Parrish Law Office, PLLC, focusing on serving clients in his community.
