About James M
James M Lynch has practiced law in Massachusetts for decades. He began his academic training in the late 1960s, earning a B.S. in Finance from Boston College in 1969. He followed that with a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School in 1973.
After law school Lynch entered public service. He served as an Assistant District Lawyer in Suffolk County beginning in 1977. That role grounded him in courtroom procedure and trial preparation. In 1984 he moved into insurance work as a Senior Trial Lawyer for Commercial Union Insurance Company, where he handled defense matters for the carrier. He returned to private practice in the late 1980s, joining the Law Office of P.J. Piscitelli as an associate in 1987.
Lynch advanced to partner-level roles in the 1990s. He became a partner at Piscitelli, Domenico & Murphy in 1991. Four years later he helped establish or joined the partnership at Lynch & Owens, P.C., where he has practiced since 1995. Over the years he secured admission to federal courts, including the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts beginning in 1977 and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit in 1993.
His professional affiliations track a litigation-oriented practice. Lynch is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Lawyers. He belongs to the Plymouth County Bar Association and holds membership in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of Massachusetts. He has served as a Notary Public for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts since 1997. He also lists membership in Pilgrim Advocates, an organization that often includes legal and civic participants in the region.
Colleagues and files reflect steady courtroom work, insurance defense experience, and matters that bring federal practice into play. The mix of state and federal admissions has allowed him to pursue both civil litigation and bankruptcy-related matters when cases required it. He has spent much of his career shifting between public prosecutorial work, in-house insurance litigation, and private-firm practice.
Lynch currently practices at Lynch & Owens, P.C., where he continues to handle civil litigation, insurance defense, and bankruptcy-related matters.
