About James M Horne
James M Horne Jr earned his undergraduate degree in international business and finance from Florida International University in 2009. He stayed at FIU for law school and received his J.D. from Florida International University College of Law in 2012. Those years set the foundation for a career that has moved steadily from internships into private practice and firm leadership.
He began gaining practical courtroom and office experience while still a student. In 2010 he interned for the Manatee County School Board. The following year brought a pair of short-term positions: a Lexis associate at LexisNexis and a summer associate role at Everest Capital LLC. In 2012 he served as a certified legal intern in the Miami-Dade State Lawyer s Office and then joined Kallins, Little & Delgado as an associate that same year.
Horne spent the bulk of the 2010s building experience at Kallins, Little & Delgado before moving into partnership. In 2019 he joined Shapiro | Delgado as a partner. A year later he launched his own firm. As owner of James Horne Law, PA since 2020, he has overseen case work and the business side of a small practice while remaining active in local legal circles.
Outside the office he has been involved in professional organizations that connect trial lawyers and members of the local bench and bar. He is a member of the Florida Justice Association, holding that affiliation since 2016. He has served as a barrister with the Manatee County Inn of Court since 2015. Early in his career he took on a leadership post in the Manatee County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division, serving as its president from 2013 to 2014.
Colleagues describe Horne’s path as a steady progression through roles that exposed him to research, litigation support and courtroom work. His resume shows a mix of in-house and firm-side experience, interrupted only by his decision to start his own practice. That choice shifted his daily responsibilities toward both client-facing work and firm management.
He is licensed to practice in Florida and continues to base his practice in the state. He now runs James Horne Law, PA, where he focuses on civil litigation and trial work in Florida courts.
