About James
James Choi built his legal path from classrooms into courtrooms. He combines study of law and politics with local bar activity. The result is a practice rooted in Ohio.
Choi began his undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University in Columbus in 2008 and received a B.A. in 2012. He studied political science and Korean during those years. He then enrolled at Capital University Law School in 2013 and earned his J.D. in 2016.
He is licensed to practice in Ohio and has been involved in local professional groups since shortly after law school. He joined the Columbus Bar Association Lawyers For Justice in 2017 and holds a current membership there. He is also a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, another affiliation he began in 2017. Those memberships keep him plugged into developments in state practice and local rules.
Choi’s early career involved steady immersion in the processes and procedures of Ohio courts. He has worked on matters that required filing, briefing and courtroom appearances. He also has experience advising clients on the practical steps to resolve disputes and to navigate procedural hurdles. His approach is straightforward: prepare the record, explain options, then take the next logical step.
His undergraduate study of Korean is part of his intellectual background. It complements his political science training and gives him an additional perspective on cultural and linguistic factors that can arise in client matters. He has drawn on that background when communication and context matter to a case.
Choi is based at WangLaw. There he continues to practice in Ohio, handling cases that arise under state law and representing clients in local forums. He maintains active membership in bar organizations and remains involved in the professional community.
