About Jack Merrill

Jack Merrill Jr has built a steady legal career that moves between government work, private practice and nonprofit leadership. He began in the federal government, then trained in law and spent years in firm practice. Today he combines those strands in a practice centered on employment issues in Massachusetts.

Merrill earned his J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in 1990. The following years saw him complete the formal credentials that led him into practice. He joined the Massachusetts State Bar in 1993 and has maintained that membership since then.

Before finishing law school, Merrill served as a Workers Compensation Investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor in 1989. That early work placed him at the intersection of federal oversight and workers’ claims. It also gave him first-hand exposure to claims processes and administrative procedures that continue to inform how he counsels clients.

After more than a decade of combining legal practice and other roles, Merrill entered private firm work in the early 2000s. In 2001 he was listed as a lawyer at Kushner Sanders Ravinal LLP. A year later he was associated with Mayer, Antonellis, Jachowicz & Haranas. Those stints were part of a broader period in which he handled employment-related matters and built courtroom and counseling experience.

Alongside his practice, Merrill has taken on leadership in legal services. He serves as President of Metrowest Legal Services. In that capacity he oversees an organization that provides legal help to individuals who lack resources for private counsel. His work there complements his bar membership and reflects a long-running engagement in the Massachusetts legal community.

Merrill’s career reflects steady movement through several legal settings: federal investigator, law graduate, firm lawyer and nonprofit executive. He has maintained continuous involvement with the Massachusetts State Bar since 1993. That continuity speaks to a long-term presence in the state’s legal landscape.

He operates as an employment lawyer in Massachusetts, handling matters that arise between workers and employers. He currently focuses his practice on employment law in Massachusetts.
