About Jack G.
Jack G. Leader was an attorney based in Rock Hill, South Carolina, with over five decades of experience in personal injury, medical malpractice, and products liability law. A founding member of the Elrod Pope Law Firm, he dedicated his career to advocating for clients throughout York County and the surrounding areas. Born and raised in Rock Hill, Jack developed a strong sense of community that would guide his professional and personal endeavors. Graduating from Rock Hill High School, Jack was a standout three-sport varsity athlete, excelling in football, basketball, and golf. His athleticism and competitive spirit laid the groundwork for his future career.
In 1967, he pursued higher education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning a Bachelor’s degree. This educational foundation prepared him for the rigors of law school, which he attended at the University of South Carolina School of Law. In 1970, he received his Juris Doctor, starting his legal journey. After law school, Jack returned to Rock Hill to launch his legal career. He initially practiced with Ed Jackson at the Jackson & Leader Law Firm, where he found his focus on courtroom advocacy. From 1973 to 1976, he served as Assistant Solicitor for the City of Rock Hill.
His role expanded from 1976 to 1985 when he became Assistant Solicitor for the 16th Judicial Circuit in York County. These positions allowed him to hone his skills in litigation and gain invaluable courtroom experience, which would benefit his clients for years to come. In 1985, Jack co-founded the Elrod Pope Law Firm, where he continued to advocate for clients until his passing in 2025. His commitment to justice and client representation was unwavering. Throughout his career, Jack was deeply involved in his community. He was a founding member of Hospice & Community Care in Rock Hill, where he also served as Director and Past-President.
His dedication to public service extended to various city and county boards, reflecting his commitment to improving the lives of those around him. Jack passed away on August 27, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Laurie Padgett Leader; his daughter, Sara Leader Haynie; his son, Ben Leader; and two grandsons. His legacy as a dedicated attorney and community leader continues to inspire those who knew him. Jack G. Leader’s contributions to both the legal field and his community will be remembered for generations to come.
