About J. Reid
J. Reid Yoder built his legal foundation in two different Ohio classrooms and one in Florida. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Miami in 2000 and returned to Ohio to complete his law degree at the University of Akron in 2003. Those years set the stage for immediate work in public service and a steady presence in local legal circles.
Fresh out of law school, Yoder joined the City of Akron Prosecutor’s Office in 2003. He began his career on the prosecution side, taking on the day-to-day responsibilities that come with municipal practice. The role put him in front of judges, juries and police officers, and it gave him a practical command of courtroom procedure and case preparation.
After several years in public prosecution he moved into private practice. In 2008 he joined DiCaudo & Yoder LLC as a lawyer. That period marked a shift from municipal court dockets to a broader slate of matters handled by a private firm. His work there is part of a longer arc that includes his current association with DiCaudo, Pitchford & Yoder, where he is listed among the firm’s attorneys.
Yoder maintains ties to institutions that shape legal practice in Summit County and beyond. He is a certified member of the Ohio Public Defenders Office, a credential that authorizes him to appear in certain indigent defense matters. He also holds membership in the Charles Scanlon Inn of Court and the Akron Bar Association, organizations that draw practicing lawyers, judges and academics together for education and professional exchange.
Colleagues describe him as a lawyer who understands both sides of the bench because his resume includes time as a prosecutor and as a private practitioner. The combination informs how he evaluates cases, prepares for hearings and sets expectations with clients. He has worked in municipal and county court settings and has handled caseloads that required routine court appearances and negotiated resolutions.
Today Yoder continues to practice law in Ohio and remains active in local bar activities. He carries certification through the Ohio Public Defenders Office and practices at DiCaudo, Pitchford & Yoder. He practices in Ohio and handles criminal defense matters under his Ohio Public Defender certification.
