About Jonathan Todd
Jonathan Todd Sinn grew up interested in the law and followed that interest into formal study. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in pre-law from Youngstown State University and later earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Akron. Those academic steps set the stage for a career that has moved between public service and private practice.
Early in his career, Sinn worked in the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office as a criminal prosecutor. That role placed him in the courthouse, handling cases and learning trial practice from the prosecution side. The experience gave him an understanding of how prosecutors build cases and the pressures that can shape charging decisions.
Sinn also pursued specialized training. He is Rule 20 certified by the Ohio Supreme Court to litigate capital murder trials. That certification signals experience handling the most serious criminal matters under Ohio law. Over time he expanded his professional memberships to include organizations that cover a range of criminal justice issues.
He is a member of the Ohio Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, a group he joined in 2008. Sinn also belongs to national and specialty organizations: the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Driving Under the Influence Defense Lawyers Association, the National Trial Lawyers Association, and the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys. Those memberships, some dating back more than a decade, reflect ongoing engagement with developments in criminal law and policy.
Sinn’s background includes courtroom work on both sides of criminal cases. His time as a prosecutor gave him insight into case evaluation and government practice. His later work, including defense-oriented memberships and certifications, aligns with a practice centered on contested criminal matters. He has handled trial preparation, evidentiary questions, and strategy in serious felony litigation.
Colleagues describe Sinn as someone who understands trial dynamics and courtroom procedure. He has maintained ties to professional groups that track changes in DUI law, drug policy, and criminal defense strategy. That involvement keeps him current on training and peer developments.
He is licensed to practice in Ohio and remains active in criminal law circles. Sinn now practices in Ohio, representing clients in criminal matters and capital-eligible cases when appropriate.
