About J. Eric
J. Eric Lockridge graduated from Emory University in 1995 with a B.A. in political science and earned his J.D. from The University of Texas School of Law in 1999. He moved quickly from law school into firm practice. The early years established a pattern of work in complex commercial and bankruptcy-related matters.
After law school Lockridge began his practice at Hartline Dacus Barger Dreyer & Kern in 1999. Two years later he joined Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, where he continued developing litigation skills and courtroom experience. In 2005 he became a partner at Kean Miller LLP. That progression — associate to partner — reflects steady advancement at several regional firms rather than a single rapid leap.
Lockridge is admitted in multiple state and federal jurisdictions. He maintains licenses in Texas and Louisiana and is admitted to several federal trial and bankruptcy courts, including the Northern and Southern Districts of Texas, the Eastern and Western Districts of Louisiana, and the Middle District of Louisiana. He also holds admission in the United States District Court and Bankruptcy Courts for the District of Colorado and has appellate admission to the Fifth Circuit. Those credentials allow him to handle matters that cross state lines and federal trial courts.
Professional affiliations have been part of Lockridge’s career from early on. He holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Texas State Bar and the Louisiana State Bar. Locally he participates in the Baton Rouge Bar Association and is listed as a pro bono volunteer there. He is also a fellow of the Louisiana Bar Foundation and served as a director of the Dallas Area Young Lawyers at an earlier stage of his practice.
Colleagues and clients describe him as deliberate in courtroom work and pragmatic in case strategy. He has experience in contested hearings, bankruptcy proceedings and commercial litigation matters that proceed in federal court. Lockridge has handled matters that require coordination among district courts and bankruptcy judges, relying on admissions across multiple jurisdictions to pursue relief where it is needed.
He is based at Kean Miller LLP and continues to handle litigation and restructuring matters. He practices in bankruptcy, commercial litigation and related federal court matters.
