J. Dhu Thompson began his legal education at Southern University at Baton Rouge in 1997 and earned his Juris Doctor in 2000. Those years in Baton Rouge shaped the practical instincts he would bring to a career practicing law in Louisiana. The classroom was where he learned the doctrine. The courts and clients taught him the trade.
After law school Thompson returned to practice in Louisiana. He built experience across a range of matters handled in the state’s courts and administrative venues. Over time he moved from working for others to creating his own practice. He set up the Law Offices of J. Dhu Thompson, APLC to provide direct legal services under his own name.
Colleagues describe Thompson as methodical in his work and steady in the courtroom. He takes on casework that requires careful fact-gathering and a clear presentation of legal issues. Files are approached with an emphasis on practical outcomes rather than theory. That approach guides interactions with clients, judges, and opposing counsel alike.
Thompson is licensed to practice law in Louisiana. Today Thompson continues to practice through the Law Offices of J. Dhu Thompson, APLC. He handles legal matters for clients across Louisiana and manages the firm’s day-to-day work from its office base. He currently concentrates his practice on serving clients in Louisiana through his firm.
