About Iris
Iris Halpern graduated from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and is licensed to practice in Colorado and New York. She entered practice after law school and built a career that combines courtroom work, public service, and teaching. Her path reflects a steady move into employment and civil rights matters, underpinned by trial experience at a federal agency.
Early in her career Halpern worked at Legal Services of Central New York in 2008, representing clients on poverty law matters and gaining front-line experience in client advocacy. She moved to the federal government and, in 2010, served as a senior trial lawyer and acting supervisory lawyer at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. In that role she conducted trials and oversaw litigation teams, handling discrimination and civil rights claims that required courtroom presence and case management.
Halpern joined Rathod Mohamedbhai LLC as a lawyer in 2018. The firm role placed her back in private practice, where she continued litigation in employment-related matters. She also took an academic post as an adjunct professor of law at the University of Colorado-Boulder Law School in 2020, teaching and mentoring law students while maintaining an active caseload. The combination of classroom work and practice allowed her to explain courtroom realities to students and to remain engaged in ongoing litigation.
Outside the office she has been active in a range of professional and civic groups. She serves on the board of One Colorado and holds the role of C4 Chair there. She sits on the executive committee of the Colorado Wage Theft Task Force. Her memberships include the Colorado Bar Association Labor & Employment Section, the Colorado Women’s Bar Association, the Colorado LGBT Bar Association, the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association, and the Lawyers’ Civil Rights Coalition. She also participated in the Colorado Bar Association Civil Rights Section from 2018 to 2019. Those roles reflect steady involvement in state-level policy discussions and bar work related to labor, civil rights, and LGBT issues.
Halpern’s background combines trial experience at a federal agency, nonprofit representation, private firm litigation, and classroom teaching. She handles employment and civil rights matters and participates in initiatives addressing wage theft and related labor issues. She practices at Rathod Mohamedbhai LLC, where her work centers on employment and civil rights matters.
