About Imad
Imad Soubra trained first as an engineer and later as a lawyer. He earned a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, then pursued a J.D. at Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Michigan. He later completed an LL.M. at The George Washington University Law School. The combination of a technical undergraduate degree and advanced legal study shaped a career that crosses technical and legal boundaries.
Soubra moved into patent work early in his legal development. He served as a patent examiner at the United States Patent and Trademark Office beginning in 2000. That role put him inside the patent system and gave him daily exposure to patent prosecution and examination standards. By 2007 he was working as a patent lawyer at IP Law Offices, where he represented clients on patent matters and navigated the procedural landscape that follows examination.
His practice later shifted toward private practice under his own name. He is a lawyer at Soubra Law Office, where he handles matters tied to intellectual property and related civil issues. His background in chemical engineering and years at the USPTO inform how he approaches technical patent claims and client counseling. He brings both technical literacy and practical patent experience to conversations with inventors and companies.
Soubra maintains ties to the Maryland legal community. He is a member of the Maryland Association for Justice, the Frederick County Bar Association and the Maryland Bar Association. He also participates in the Maryland Volunteer Lawyer Service, providing pro bono assistance where needed. Those affiliations connect him to local practitioners and community legal resources.
Colleagues and clients see him as someone who understands the mechanics of patents from multiple angles. He has worked on patent prosecution and on client-side strategies after examination. His time at the USPTO exposed him to the procedural expectations examiners apply. His subsequent work in private practice exposed him to the business and litigation realities that follow a patent decision.
Soubra keeps his practice centered in Maryland and draws on both technical training and legal experience when evaluating inventions and advising clients. He handles patent prosecution, patent disputes and other intellectual property matters, and he currently practices at Soubra Law Office where he focuses on patent and IP work.
