About Hugh W.
Hugh W. Barrow built an academic foundation across law, public policy and environmental management. He earned a B.A. in Political Science from Auburn University in 1999. He received a J.D. from Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 2002 and the same year completed an M.S. in Environmental Management at Samford. He then pursued an LL.M. in International Development at the University of Washington School of Law, awarded in 2003.
His legal career moved quickly into firm leadership. In 2006 he took on the role of managing partner at Barrow & Weigel, PLLC. Six years later he was a partner at Barrow Law Group, PLLC. Since 2015 he has been a partner at Barrow Brown Carrington, PLLC. Those positions reflect steady progression from lawyer to firm principal and partner.
Barrow is admitted to practice in Kentucky and New York. He also holds admission in the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky. Those admissions underpin his practice in both state and federal venues.
Professional memberships track a mix of bar and community involvement. He belongs to the Kentucky Bar Association and has been a member of the Louisville Bar Association since 2006. He joined the New York Bar Association in 2004. For a time he participated in National Trial Lawyers, between 2012 and 2013. He also served on the board of the Italian Cultural Institute from 2009 to 2013.
Colleagues and clients see a lawyer who has spent years in small-firm leadership. The record shows alternating stretches as managing partner and as partner across firms that bear his name. That pattern suggests comfort with both courtroom work and the administrative demands of running a practice, including client intake, case management and supervising teams.
He maintains a practice through Barrow Brown Carrington, PLLC and regularly appears in the courts where he holds admission. His work draws on his multi-jurisdictional admissions and his graduate study in environmental management and international development. He currently practices litigation in Kentucky and New York state and federal courts.
