About Howard M.
Howard M. Brown began his academic path in the social sciences and law. He earned a Bachelor of Science in labor relations from Cornell University in 1976 and followed that with a Master of Arts in history from Columbia University in 1977. He completed his legal education at Suffolk University Law School, receiving his J.D. in 1986. These formative years set the stage for a long career in employment-related practice.
Brown launched his legal career at the Boston firm Kaye Fialkow Richmond and Rothstein, joining as an associate after law school and later becoming a partner in 1986. He spent the next decade building litigation experience and handling matters typical of labor and employment practice. In 1996 he moved to Stroock & Stroock & Lavan as a partner, joining a firm with a national presence and a broad civil litigation docket.
A year later he was among the founding partners of Bartlett Hackett Feinberg PC in 1997. That step marked a shift toward creating a platform for concentrated practice in employment and labor matters. His time there coincided with an era when workplace law was evolving rapidly, and his practice reflected the litigation and counseling demands of that period.
Brown is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and before the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Those admissions have underpinned appellate and trial work across workplace disputes. Over the years he has handled cases that require navigating statutory claims, contract issues, and disciplinary proceedings. He brings to those matters decades of courtroom and counseling experience.
Colleagues and clients describe him as methodical and straightforward in the handling of cases. He favors clear analysis over rhetoric. His approach is practical: establish the facts, test the legal claims, and set a litigation or resolution strategy that fits the client’s needs. He is comfortable in both trial court and appellate settings, and he has been part of teams managing complex discovery and motion practice.
Today Howard M. Brown practices at Boston Employment Law PC. He continues to represent clients in employment and labor matters, handling litigation, regulatory proceedings, and workplace counseling in Massachusetts and before federal appellate courts. His current practice centers on employment law and related litigation.
