About Howard
Howard Lewis built his legal foundation in both business and law. He studied finance and business at Bentley College and spent time at Indiana University–Purdue University at Indianapolis before earning a J.D. from Western Michigan University Cooley Law School. Those early years combined analytical training and legal study, a background that later informed his courtroom approach.
Lewis has worked in family law for decades, concentrating on divorce litigation. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Federal Circuit and in Massachusetts. Those admissions reflect a practice that has ranged beyond state family courts to include federal filings and appellate matters tied to family law issues.
Courtroom work makes up a large part of his professional profile. He litigates contested divorces and related matters in Massachusetts courts. His casework often involves complex financial disputes and contested custody hearings, which call for both evidentiary work and persuasive oral argument. He also maintains a long-running pro bono practice; he has served as a divorce lawyer for Pro Bono Divorce Services since 1993 and continues that work today.
Professional memberships form another constant thread. He holds memberships in the American Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the Norfolk Bar Association. He is also listed with the National Association of Trial Lawyers and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Those affiliations align him with groups that cover trial advocacy, criminal defense and broader bar activity.
Lewis holds a certification in divorce litigation from a bar association. That credential sits alongside steady courtroom experience, litigation strategy and client counseling. Over the years he has handled contested family-law matters that required negotiation, motion practice and trial preparation. He is comfortable in contested hearings and the procedural demands that accompany them.
He practices from Howard Lewis Law and maintains an office in Boston. Clients find him in court rooms across the state and at hearings where family finances and parenting time are decided. He also continues his long-standing pro bono work for individuals who need representation in divorce matters.
He currently practices divorce litigation.
