About Hillary A.
Hillary A. Madden graduated from Widener University School of Law in 2007 after completing a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at Gettysburg College in 2003. Her academic path combined courtroom skills and a liberal arts background. Those years set the stage for early exposure to trial courts and appellate chambers.
She moved into practical legal work soon after law school. In 2009 she served as an intern with the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s Middle District. She then clerked in 2011 at the Monroe County Court of Common Pleas, working for Judge David J. Williamson and Judge Ronald E. Vican. Those clerkships placed her inside the daily workings of a trial court and gave her sustained contact with case management, opinions and hearings.
In 2012 Madden took a role as an Assistant District Lawyer at the Monroe County District Lawyer's Office. That position involved courtroom appearances and case handling across the county’s criminal dockets. The combination of prosecutorial work and earlier clerkship experience has marked much of her professional path.
Outside of courtrooms, Madden has been active in bar and civic organizations. She has served on the Monroe County Bar Association Foundation board since 2018 and holds the treasurer position on the Monroe County Bar Association Executive Board. Since 2014 she has been a delegate to the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of Delegates. She joined the Pennsylvania Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers in 2013 and has maintained membership in the Pennsylvania Bar Association since 2011.
Her community involvement extends to nonprofit boards and volunteer programs. She has served on the boards of Meals on Wheels and Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bridge since 2013. She has been a member of the Monroe County Bar Association Pro-Bono Committee since 2011 and coordinated the Wills for Heroes program in Monroe County starting the same year. Early in her career she served as president of the Monroe County Bar Association Young Lawyer Division from 2011 to 2012.
Madden practices at Durney & Worthington LLC. Her background combines time in the prosecutor’s office, trial-court clerkships and longstanding bar activity. Her current practice at Durney & Worthington LLC centers on criminal defense and trial work.
