About Harrison A.
Harrison A. Lord attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before earning his J.D. from Washington University School of Law in 2006. He worked on the Washington University Journal of Law & Policy while in law school and completed his degree the same year he began a judicial clerkship. The early combination of academic work and courtroom exposure set the tone for a practice shaped by appellate experience and firm-side practice.
After graduating, Lord served as a judicial clerk to Judge Richard Elmore at the North Carolina Court of Appeals in 2006. That clerkship placed him inside the appellate process, examining briefs and drafting opinions. He spent time as a contributing editor for Eli Research in 2007, a role that kept him engaged in legal writing and secondary-source work before moving into private practice.
Lord joined James, McElroy & Diehl, P.A. in 2008, where he gained further trial and litigation experience. He later moved to Bernhardt and Strawser, P.A. in 2013, continuing to handle matters for clients in North Carolina courts. In 2017 he took on firm leadership as the managing member of Lord Law Office, PLLC. In 2024 he became a managing member at Lord & Lindley, PLLC, a position that combines case work with administrative and business responsibilities.
Throughout his career Lord has maintained active involvement in bar organizations. He is a member of the American Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association. Within the state bar, he has worked in the Young Lawyers Division, serving as chair of that division at the state level and co-chairing the Newsletter Committee. He is also part of the NCBA Leadership Academy charter class and has served on the Strategic Planning and Emerging Trends Committee.
Lord has taken on project work tied to access and outreach. He co-chairs the Call 4ALL Task Force and co-leads its Charlotte site, roles that involve coordinating volunteer efforts and community-facing programs. That service sits alongside routine firm duties and his litigation and appellate work.
His practice has spanned appellate work, courtroom litigation and the management tasks that come with running a small firm. He maintains a practice in North Carolina and continues to divide time between client work, bar leadership and firm administration. His practice concentrates on litigation and appellate matters in North Carolina.
