About Hannah Marie

Hannah Marie El-Bashir earned her J.D. from Mitchell Hamline School of Law. She finished law school prepared for courtroom work and public service, and she moved into roles that mixed both early in her career.

Her first public-facing legal work came in 2017 as an in-house volunteer lawyer for the Southern Minnesota Regional Legal Services Volunteer Lawyer Program. That position exposed her to client intake, legal aid procedures, and the everyday realities that many Minnesotans face when seeking legal help.

In 2018 she joined Ed Shaw Law as an associate. There she handled client matters, conducted legal research, and gained practical experience in case preparation. The hands-on work at a smaller firm gave her a chance to manage files from early stages through resolution.

She served as a law clerk to the Honorable Mark J. Kappelhoff in Hennepin County in 2020. The clerkship offered a different vantage point. She observed judicial decision-making, drafted bench memoranda and orders, and learned how procedural and factual details affect outcomes. Clerking sharpened her legal writing and her understanding of trial court practice.

After gaining experience in both public interest work and private practice, she moved into firm leadership. She is a partner at El-Bashir Law. In that role she oversees client matters, mentors junior attorneys and helps shape firm policies. Her colleagues describe her as thorough and practical in handling case strategy and client communication.

She maintains current memberships in professional associations and participates in the local legal community. That involvement keeps her connected to changes in Minnesota law and to peers who practice across a range of disciplines. She also continues pro bono and volunteer work that echoes her earlier public interest experience.

Colleagues point to a steady career path: community-oriented work, private practice experience, a county court clerkship, and then firm leadership. The sequence reflects a mix of courtroom exposure and client-side practice that informs how she advises clients today. She practices in Minnesota and conducts her work through El-Bashir Law, where her current practice focuses on serving clients across the state through direct representation and counsel.
