About H. Benjamin

H. Benjamin Perez earned a bachelor’s degree in government from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2002 and a J.D. from Yeshiva University the same year. Those academic credentials provided the legal foundation he would soon build on in New York courts and bar organizations. He took courses grounded in criminal justice at John Jay and completed his law studies at Yeshiva, leaving school prepared for litigation and client work.

His early career mixed private practice and firm work. In 2001 he served as a partner at Perez & Cedeno, P.C., a role that preceded the formal conferral of his law degree. He later worked as an associate at Wilens & Baker in 2005. By 2008 he had become principal of the Law Office of H. Benjamin Perez, PLLC. Records also list him at H. Benjamin Perez & Associates, P.C., where he has carried on his practice in subsequent years. Those positions reflect steady engagement in litigation and client representation over more than a decade.

Perez has been active in professional organizations across criminal, immigration and family law areas. He has been an officer of the New York State Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers since 2008. He holds membership in the Federal Bar Council beginning in 2010 and in the Dominican Bar Association since 2008. He joined the New York State Bar Association in 2006 and maintains memberships in its Immigration Law, Family Law and Criminal Law sections. These affiliations connect him to colleagues, continuing education and the procedural developments that affect trial and appellate practice in New York.

In practice Perez handles matters that arise in New York’s courts and administrative forums. His work involves courtroom representation and advising clients on criminal defense, immigration consequences and family-related legal concerns. He represents individuals at different stages of proceedings and coordinates pleadings, hearings and negotiations that affect both immediate case outcomes and longer-term legal status. Colleagues describe him as experienced in courtroom procedure and in the day-to-day demands of managing client files.

He currently practices at H. Benjamin Perez & Associates, P.C., where his work centers on criminal defense, immigration and family law matters.
