About Gregory Paul
Gregory Paul Zimmerman built his legal foundation after completing a liberal arts education and a law degree. He earned a B.A. in English Writing from the University of Pittsburgh in 1985 and a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law in 1994. Those classroom years gave him tools for careful analysis and clearer argument.
He spent an early part of his career in the insurance industry. In 1989 he worked as a claims professional for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. That role exposed him to the practical side of claims handling and dispute resolution long before he entered private practice as an attorney. The combination of claims work and formal legal training shaped the perspective he brought to later matters.
By 1998 he was serving as a lawyer at MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton. Records list him at that firm in a lawyer role beginning that year. His time there placed him in a traditional law firm setting where he handled client matters and participated in litigation and counseling activities customary to firm practice.
Zimmerman is admitted to the bars of Pennsylvania and New York. He also holds admission in the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the Western District of New York. Those admissions allow him to appear in both state and federal venues across a wide geographic area in the Northeast.
Colleagues describe him as pragmatic in approach and attentive to the facts of a case. He draws on his early insurance-industry experience when evaluating disputes and when communicating with insurers and claims professionals. His legal work reflects a steady, methodical style: careful preparation, attention to procedural detail and clear written advocacy.
Through the arc of his career he has balanced work inside an insurer’s operations with work in private practice. That background gives him a perspective on how claims are evaluated before they ever reach a courtroom. It also informs how he prepares for litigation when settlement is no longer an option.
He continues to maintain his law licenses and to handle matters that arise in state and federal court. He currently focuses his practice on matters that proceed in those state and federal forums.
