About Gregory L

Gregory L Abbott left Knox College with a B.A. in anthropology in 1975 and returned to school years later to study law. He earned his J.D. from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1993. The shift from social science to legal practice shapes how he approaches problems: curious, methodical and patient. He brings that sensibility to the cases he takes on now.

His legal career spans multiple jurisdictions. He is admitted to practice in Oregon and Washington and is also admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Those admissions allow him to move between state and federal matters when a case requires it. He has built a practice that draws on regional rules and federal appellate procedure.

Abbott works at Consumer Law Northwest. There he represents individuals in consumer-related matters and handles civil litigation on their behalf. His work involves motions, pleadings and courtroom appearances when necessary. He spends time in negotiation as well, trying to resolve disputes without prolonged litigation when that serves a client’s interests.

Colleagues describe him as deliberate in his preparation. He favors careful factual development and clear legal arguments over flash. That approach is practical in consumer cases where documentation and detail often decide disputes. He prepares witnesses, reviews voluminous account records and frames legal claims so judges and opposing counsel can follow the key points.

Outside the courtroom, Abbott has kept ties to legal networks across the Pacific Northwest. Admitted in two states and the Ninth Circuit, he is familiar with differences in procedure and practice between local courts. That familiarity helps when a matter crosses state lines or implicates federal practice standards.

Clients who come to him typically face disputes stemming from consumer transactions and related civil issues. He evaluates cases for both litigation potential and settlement value. His office work includes drafting complaints, defending against collection lawsuits and advancing statutory consumer claims where applicable.

He currently practices consumer protection and related civil litigation at Consumer Law Northwest.
